       I see that Herr Schuppanzigh has been the cause of some misunderstanding.  I had instructed him to tell you that something else had occurred which prevented me, to my regret, from negotiating with you this time, as I wanted to, about the works in question. – During the next few days I myself will tell you why; and I know that you will then forgive me – I am only sorry that H[err] S[chuppanzigh] did not inform you about this sooner, as I requested him to do. – Meanwhile I remain, with my best regards, your [Anderson footnote: “The signature has been cut off.”]
